authored.com.au is run by me, Campbell Jensen, trading as authored. (ABN 85 745 873 010), Melbourne, Australia. This page explains what the site collects, what I do with it, and the choices you have.
What this site collects
Very little. There are no accounts, no cart and no payments on authored.com.au, and no advertising cookies at all. The information I get is what you choose to send through one of the four forms on the Contact page.
- Ask a quick question. Your name, email, your question, and timing (optional).
- Start a conversation. Your name, email, phone (optional), brand or company, your role and website (optional), the project type, location, timing, budget range (optional), whether it is a one-off or ongoing, anything else the project needs, the project details, and how you heard about authored.
- Collaborate on a story. Your name, email, whether you are an individual, a collective, a not-for-profit, a community group or something else, the project or organisation and its website (optional), your story, what would help, timing, where it is, whether there is a budget (optional), and your answer to the one-photograph question (optional).
- Join the agency. Your name, email, phone (optional), discipline, where you are based, a portfolio or Instagram link, rates and availability (optional), a little about you, and a portfolio or CV if you choose to attach one.
On every form only your name and email are needed, plus your message on the first three. Everything else is optional.
All four forms are delivered by Netlify, the service that hosts this site, and land in a form inbox that only I can see. You can also reach me by email or phone instead.
Enquiries and commissions
When you ask a question, start a conversation, email or call about a project, I use what you tell me to reply, to scope and quote the work and, if we go ahead, to deliver it. Briefs, quotes, contracts, invoices and the correspondence around a job are kept for as long as I need them to complete the work and to meet Australian record-keeping rules, then deleted. The terms for a commission are set out in the written quote or agreement for that job, not on this page.
I do not sell, rent or trade your information, and I do not add enquiries to any mailing list.
Collaborations
If you tell me about a story through the Collaborate on a story form, I use what you send to understand what you need, to reply, and to work out whether and how I can help. I keep it while we talk and, if we work together, for as long as the collaboration needs it. Ask me and I will delete yours sooner.
Introductions to the agency
If you introduce yourself through the Join the agency form, I use what you send to consider you for projects and to get in touch when the right one comes up. Introductions are kept on file while authored. is taking on work, so that I can come back to them. Ask me and I will delete yours sooner.
Who else sees it
- Netlify, which hosts this site and delivers the four forms.
- Google, through Google Analytics, only if you accept the cookie notice. The site's fonts are served from this site, not from Google Fonts.
- My email provider, when we correspond.
- The people I work with on a job, such as a videographer, stylist, producer or retoucher, who get only what they need to do their part of the work.
Hosting and logs
Like most websites, the server that delivers these pages may keep standard technical logs, including IP address, browser type and pages requested. These keep the site running and secure and are not used to build a profile of you.
How long I keep it
Enquiries and the correspondence around them stay for as long as I need them to deal with what you asked and to meet record-keeping rules, then they are deleted. Collaboration stories stay while we talk and for as long as any collaboration needs them. Introductions to the agency stay while authored. is taking on work.
Your choices
You can ask what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email hello@authored.com.au and I will reply as soon as I can.
If you are in the UK or the European Union, the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR give you the same rights, along with the right to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it. My lawful basis for analytics is your consent. For a question, an enquiry or a commission, it is the steps needed to reply, and to enter into and carry out that work. For a collaboration story or an introduction to the agency, it is my legitimate interest in replying to you and in finding the right projects and people to work with.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, tell me first. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or, in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
